Nightlife In Davenport
The fun starts when the sun goes down
Downtown Davenport has a fairly robust bar scene, which has offered plenty of opportunity to get photos. From the fun to the goofy, downtown probably has it.
It’s not uncommon to have people run up to me when they see my camera. Of course, it’s always nice to see how enthusiastic they are to strike a pose.
The Local Music Scene
Getting to follow the local DJ’s around is a lot of fun. Naturally, getting good photos of them to help them with their marketing is key, but they often do goofy poses, which adds a lot of humor to the night.
Donnie of Double H Entertainment always brings his humor to the club.
DJ Kat, however, does NOT like to have her photo taken, but she’s always a good sport whenever I ambush her to get photos for her social media.
Donte Nystrom (DJ Argos) is another of our local DJ’s who has earned a lot of recognition for his music tastes and ability to energize the crowd.
Things have taken a bit of a tragic turn for Donte as he was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer a few months ago and is currently undergoing treatment. As you can imagine, this is not a diagnosis to be taken lightly. However, his treatments are going well and the outpouring of support from the local community has been awesome. I speak with Donte somewhat frequently, and aside from being a bit run down from the chemo, he’s in good spirits and looking forward to news that his treatment worked and he can put this nightmare behind him.
There has been one fundraiser at Kilkenny’s Pub in Downtown Davenport, Iowa, that was attended by well over 100 people showing their support and several more fundraisers are planned, with the next taking place on October 11, 2025, at Swanny’s in Colona, Illinois.
I have added a few items to my online store, of which the proceeds go directly to Donte to assist with financial support while he takes time off from the music scene. DJ Argos Cancer Support Sticker
Bix Weekend 2025
Bix weekend tends to be a fairly exciting event for Davenport’s downtown. However, this was a particularly rainy Summer, which may have been nice for the Bix Marathon runners, but it probably wasn’t so great for the live performances on the street.
Nevertheless, people still came out and had fun. Our very own Jim-Jam was spotted enjoying some music.
We also had a visit from our local MMA fighter, Lee Colvin.
Our Bartenders
Our local bartenders are a lot of fun to chase around. Brando here, at Boozie’s Bar & Grill, photographs well when he’s not diving for cover when he sees my camera.
Alyssa, over at The Office, is less likely to throw straws at me when I take her pictures, but her accuracy with coasters is getting better.
The Snacks
Late night food is a must if you’re planning on dancing the night away on 3rd Street.
Inside The Office Cocktail Lounge, is a little gem called The Breakroom. They’re best known for their hand-made variety of egg rolls, but they have other items, such as, burgers and a variety of tater tot dishes.
I had the pleasure of part-timing there in the evenings and working with such an amazing crew was a great experience.
As you can see, this is a very enthusiastic and photogenic bunch.
Usually, the DJ, Tanner, would be sure to stop in for his chicken nuggets and tater tots, with a side of what was deemed “hella ranch”.
Hilariously, half of the kitchen would run for cover when I grabbed my camera, but Maggie was all smiles.
All in all, the weekends along 3rd Street in Downtown Davenport have a lot to offer and with the weather becoming less humid, it’ll be nice to hang out on the street to meet people and photograph the area’s more memorable moments.
