Boozie's. 46 Years...and Counting.
Boozie's Ain't Done, Yet.
If you’re a regular in downtown Davenport, Iowa, you’ve undoubtedly learned that Boozie’s Bar & Grill closed their location on 3rd Street. For many, this was fairly devastating; certainly for the staff.
The circumstances surrounding Boozie’s hasty departure will likely be discussed in another article. But for now, the future is looking bright for Boozie’s and I look forward to documenting it thoroughly.
Having had much of the past 5 years to work with the staff, I was able to get lots of photos.
Annie has been a fan favorite in Boozie’s kitchen for nearly 4 decades and is probably the QC River Bandit’s biggest fan.
While flame-broiling everything in sight, she liked to discuss baseball quite a bit and had stories to fill the hours of kitchen routine, which was nice.
Chasing Monica McKown, the bar owner, around wasn’t always easy, since she was always embroiled in her daily work routine and rarely sat still for a photo. Although, there were a few occasions where she stopped for a few moments.
Christmas At Boozie’s
The Boozie’s Christmas party was a lot of fun and with Monica proving once again that she is the world’s biggest fan of Christmas, she showed her appreciation for her staff with a day of games, gift-exchanges and snacks. Having the opportunity to photograph the festivities was a lot of fun.

Nightlife At Boozie’s
Downtown Davenport has a fairly robust scene for nightlife and Boozie’s played a large role in shaping it. Every weekend, the bar boasted karaoke on their first floor and a dance club in “The Loft” on the 2nd floor. Sadly, “The Loft” had to close a few months before the rest of the bar due to construction plans and I see the occasional social media post asking if there are other local bars that offer the same style of experience. I think it’s fair to say that people really enjoyed what Boozie’s had to offer on the weekends.

Karaoke nights were something to behold and were a fan favorite at Boozie’s.

Where To From Here…
Well, there’s been a lot of behind-the-scenes work to get Boozie’s back in operation. However, it’s my understanding that it won’t be at the old location. A new location is in the works and from what I’m told and there are a lot of improvements that will make the Boozie’s experience much better. As for where the new location is, I’ll wait until I have Monica’s blessing before announcing any definitive updates. However, the secret may already be out, so I’ll have to check to make sure.
In any event, I look forward to capturing more photos from the Boozie’s nightlife and to, once again, see the old regulars that helped to make the bar unique.
